April is National Volunteer Month, a month dedicated to honoring those who volunteer in their communities and encouraging volunteerism. Luckey Farmers takes pride in serving and volunteering within our community. One of the community service activities that Luckey Farmers is apart of is the Sandusky and Ottawa County REACH Program.
The REACH Program is sponsored by the Sandusky and Ottawa County Chambers of Commerce to teach older elementary students about work ethic and professionalism. Julie Myers and Kirsten Ameling teach at Woodmore and Genoa Elementary once per month and Doug Uher teaches at Oak Harbor Elementary. We are currently preparing for their end of the year field trip to our facilities.
Woodmore will be going to our Bradner facility, while Genoa and Oak Harbor will be going to our Graytown facility. The students will get to witness a workplace in action. On their respective trips, they will learn about different jobs done at Luckey Farmers while getting hands on experience taking soil samples and learning about precision agriculture.
We look forward to showing the students what we do at Luckey Farmers, and we enjoy the opportunity to teach work ethic and professionalism within our community.
