Corn silking was pegged at 97%, doughing at 61%, and denting at 16%, all of those being one to four points behind the five year average. Corn harvest is progressing in the south, with Texas 42% done, Lousianna 38% done and Georgia 34% harvested. Ohio’s corn condition came in at 58% g/e, up one point on the week.
The national soybean rating lost one point this week at 59% good/excellent. Soybean blooming was pegged at 94% this week with 79% of the crop setting pods. Ohio’s bean condition was up two points at 55% g/e.
The ProFarmer Crop Tour gets underway next week, with an eastern leg and a western leg running Monday through Thursday. ProFarmer will release their official crop estimate on Friday, August 18.
