The USDA pegged the national corn condition this week at 68% good to excellent, up three points from last week, but behind last year’s 75% g/e rating. The US corn crop as a whole is 96% planted. Ohio corn is 91% planted, up nine points on the week.
The US soybean crop is 83% planted, up 16 points from last week. Ohio soybean farmers made good progress last week, with the crop 74% planted, but still behind the average for this week at 87%.
The winter wheat crop rating came in at 49% good/excellent, down one point from last week, well behind last year’s rating of 62% g/e.
Ten day forecasts looks to be warmer with very little precipitation chances on the horizon.
