Most of the planting progress last week was made in the Northwestern Corn Belt, and that activity is expected to continue throughout this week. Very little planting progress was made in the Southern and Eastern Corn Belt.
Ohio corn planting progress was reported at 46% this week, up four points on the week, and ahead of the 5 year average of 38%. Nationally, corn planting was pegged at 47% this week, slightly behind the 5 year average of 52%.
Some of the earlier planted corn could potentially need replanted due to the surplus moisture and cold ground conditions.
Ohio soybeans came in at 16% planted, up two points from last week. Nationwide, soybeans are 14% planted, just 3 points behind the 5 year average.
