Annual Report:
At our 94th annual meeting held in March, your board of directors and management team were pleased to announce that Luckey Farmers, Inc. enjoyed the second most profitable year in our history. Despite challenging weather conditions, the 2013 corn and soybean harvest produced the second largest volume experienced in the cooperative’s history, and a few of our branches received their largest crop to date.
Outgoing board members Rich Thorbahn and Ken Wolf were recognized for their nine years of service to the members of Luckey Farmers. Edward Gahler and James Lipstraw were both elected to three-year terms.
Bradner Joint Venture Update:
Due diligence continues with the proposed joint venture at our Bradner location. We were hoping to break ground this spring, but due to unforeseen circumstances with the railroad, our construction start date has been delayed later into the calendar year. While these delays are disappointing, your Luckey Farmers’ management team and board of directors will continue to keep you informed as more information becomes available.
The joint venture is one example of how Luckey Farmers is keeping pace with today’s technology advances and opportunities. Another example of how we are adapting to these advances and opportunities is the addition of new employees to our talented Luckey Farmers’ team. In the upcoming pages, we introduce you to these new employees and their roles within the cooperative.
Update Your Information:
With all of the new changes taking place at Luckey Farmers, we want to make sure that we have all of our members and customers’ current contact information so that we are able to best serve you. This summer, we will be mailing you a postcard with a link where you can update your contact information online, or you can simply fill out the postcard and mail it back to us.
Look for our fall newsletter in the coming months and more updates as to how your cooperative is improving. We always appreciate your input, so feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns!
Have a safe and productive summer,
Andy
