Wood County Ohio Bean Crop – August 7, 2017
The U.S. corn condition dropped one point this week, to 60% good/excellent rating. The Ohio corn crop was left unchanged at 57% g/e. Nationally, corn silking came in at 93% this week, right in line with the five year average of 94%. 42% of the corn crop is in the dough stage this week, compared to the average of 44%. Corn dented was pegged at 7% this week.
The U.S. soybean crop improved one point on the week to 60% good/excellent. Ohio soybeans were up five points at 53% g/e. Nationally, the bean crop is 90% bloomed, beating the average of 88%, and 65% of the soybeans are setting pods, versus the average of 62%.
The U.S. winter wheat harvest is just about wrapped up at 94% complete. The spring wheat harvest is getting underway at 24% complete this week, versus 9% last week.
Traders are waiting for further direction in the market from the USDA Crop Production / Supply and Demand Report, which will be released Thursday August 10, 2017.
