Ottawa County, Ohio corn crop – June 12, 2017
This was the first week for the USDA to release their crop condition report for soybeans. Ohio soybeans came in at 57% good/excellent, versus 68% g/e last year. Nationally, beans are 66% good/excellent, compared to 72% for this time last year.
Ohio corn was up 1 point on the week at a quality rating of 50% good/excellent, versus 65% for this comparable week last year. Nationally, corn was rated at 67% g/e, down 1 point on the week, and behind last year’s rating of 75 g/e.
Rains brought little relief to the states in the Northern Corn Belt on Sunday, dropping anywhere from 0.25-0.5 inch. More relief is on the way for the Eastern Corn Belt later in the week. While the states in the Western Belt look to stay on the dry side in the 6-10 day forecast.
